A recent collision on the water near Bayside has sent shockwaves through the community, highlighting the importance of safety measures while enjoying Miami’s beautiful waterways. The incident, involving a tour boat and a private vessel, resulted in over a dozen people being hospitalized.
The chaotic scene unfolded just after 3:15 p.m. on a Sunday, prompting swift responses from Miami-Dade Fire Rescue, City of Miami Fire Rescue, Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, and the U.S. Coast Guard. According to MDFR Division Chief Horacio Rodriguez, the collision occurred in Fisherman’s Channel, several miles away from PortMiami.
In total, 29 individuals were affected by the collision, with 13 requiring transportation to the hospital. Among the injured, at least one person was airlifted to Jackson Memorial Hospital for further medical attention. While the extent of their injuries remains unclear, thankfully, no fatalities were reported.
